Miner’s Loop

This is the most popular route in the area. The loop is rich with mining history, ghost towns and expansive alpine views. Start at the St. Elmo ghost town and head towards Tincup then on towards Pitkin. Pitkin makes a great stop for lunch. After leaving Pitkin continue the loop and head back towards St. Elmo. If time permits, consider checking-out the Mount Antero trail.

Aspen Ridge

Start at Cottonwood Trailhead or Ruby Mountain and visit a 10,000 foot ridge covered in Aspen trees. This is a great route for beginners and there is access to numerous additional trails from this area. Sweeping mountain views in all directions.

Marshall Pass

An easy route following a historic railroad grade. The road is primarily gravel. This is a great route to get acclimated to off-road driving. Stop at the Tomichi Creek Trading Post for fuel and food before returning to Salida.

Mount Antero

The Mount Antero Trail offers a unique experience to get within 500 vertical feet of a 14er summit. The trail showcases panoramic views of the Arkansas River Valley. This trail is a great addition to the Miner’s Loop.
